Our commitment

A grading report is a document people rely on, sometimes at a difficult moment and often on someone else's behalf. Whether you can read it should not depend on how you access the web. We treat accessibility as part of the work rather than as a compliance box.

The standard we work to

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. Where this site falls short of that standard we would rather say so on this page than let you find out by hitting the problem.

What is in place today

• Every image carries alternative text describing what it shows.
• Pages use real headings and landmark regions in order, so a screen reader can move through them by structure rather than by guesswork.
• A skip-to-content link on every page lets keyboard and screen reader users pass the navigation.
• Keyboard focus is visible, and the site can be operated without a mouse.
• Animation, including the moving panels on the home page, stops entirely for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion.
• Body text sits on plain white or a light neutral at sizes and contrasts intended to stay legible without zooming, and the page reflows rather than scrolling sideways when it is enlarged.
• Form fields carry labels, and the verification field accepts a report number typed with or without spacing or punctuation.

Known limitations, stated plainly

• No independent accessibility audit has been carried out. Everything above is our own assessment.
• The downloadable sample report is a densely laid out document generated for print and is not tagged for screen readers. If you need the contents of any report in an accessible form, ask and we will send it as plain text.
• The grading diagrams, including the proportions drawing and the clarity plot, carry information visually. Their captions describe what they show, but a diagram is still a diagram.
• Typefaces are served by a third party, Google Fonts. If that service is blocked or slow, the site falls back to a system typeface, which changes the appearance but not the content.

Alternative formats

Any document we publish, including a grading report, can be provided as plain text or in large print at no charge. Ask and we will send it.

Tell us when we get it wrong

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, write to intake@igml.org. Tell us what happened, what page you were on, and what you were using, including any assistive technology. We acknowledge within one business day and will tell you what we intend to do and when. We would rather hear it than not.

Review

This statement is reviewed when the site changes materially, and at least once a year.

Governing law and venue

This statement and any dispute relating to it are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any proceeding shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, as set out in our Terms of Use.
